Happy New Year

Good morning Merlin and welcome to 2021,

I hope you had an excellent Christmas and happy new year?

If you haven’t realised yet then the majority of our learning this half term will be taking place ‘remotely’ (meaning from home).

If you haven’t already, you will therefore need to use your log in details to sign into Microsoft Teams, where you will be able to see, hand in, ask questions about etc. your remote learning tasks for each day.

Have fun with this exciting new learning experience - I certainly intend to - and if you need any help please contact me via Teams or

Kind regards.

Mr Burton.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas Year 6!

Have a safe and a happy Christmas with your families.

Year 6 Socially Distanced Nativity

Finally, the time has come to see how wonderful (and dramatic) you all are. The link below is for our wonderful Socially Distanced Nativitiy...enjoy:

In the Victorian times, silhouette portrait pictures cut from thin black card became a cheap and novelty way of sharing a picture of yourself with others.  Y6 has taken the Victorian silhouette into the modern age.  First, the children took a profile photo of themselves using the iPads.  Then we cut out our portraits using white paper.  Next, Y6 filled the silhouette with all sorts of drawings, cartoons, symbols and words about themselves.  Finally, they mounted our portraits on black paper.  We think they look great and they show off what interesting and creative children we have!

The Art of Being Brilliant

Last Monday, Will Hussey came to do an session with all the Year 6s about how to be brilliant and positive.  We learnt that it is our mindset that enables us to see things in different perspectives.  We learnt the importance of being positive in life and how that impacts on us and the people around us.  We all learnt lots and took away something we can work on from the session.

Are you a brilliant 2%er or a Mood Hover?

Welcome to Year 6 - it's going to be a great year!

As a Year 6 Team, we can't wait to get to know each of you and we are ready to get stuck in and make the most of our time together.  Although we've had to make a few changes, we can still learn and we can still have fun!

So let's make this the best Y6 ever!

HOPE Homework

Thank you to all the parents and carers who took the time to be interviewed about what gives them hope.  Many of the answers referred to the hope that our children, the next generation, gives us.

Below is a word cloud containing many of the words and phrases given during the interviews. How many 'hopeful sentences' can you create from this word cloud?

HOPE: The sense that things could change and get better and the sense that although things may not turn out the way we want them to - we will find a way to cope.  Y6 have been reading stories and poems about this theme and then exploring ways that they find hope in nature, themselves and other people.  We have created our own Tree of Hopes - have a look, enjoy and feel hopeful!
