English Homework

Reading

Children should be reading at least three times a week and recording their reading in their reading records.

Please make sure that children bring in their reading folders everyday. On Mondays Mrs Shotliff will be checking to see that reading has been done at home.  The children will have the opportunity to change their book daily, if required.  The children should all have a VIPERS bookmark, which you can use whilst reading, to ask children questions.  I will also set a book on Big Cat Collins website too when they are required.  Please let me know when you have completed the books set online, so that I can add more on.

Reading Comprehension

We will also send some age appropriate VIPERS reading comprehension tasks home, that you can work through with your child.  We will also send differentiated reading tasks for those children who require a differentiated text.  Please let us know if you require any alternative tasks if the children are struggling- or alternatively- if your child requires a more challenging comprehension practice.

Spelling

Each week we will be setting spellings to learn online through the Spelling Frame online programme https://spellingframe.co.uk/. We will set these spellings on Mondays, and we will test the children the following Monday. The children have been told which spelling group they are in.

A list of spellings will come home weekly, along with a paper copy, so the children can practice their spellings on paper too.

If you have any questions about their homework, please don't hesitant to come to see Mrs Shotliff.
