A day in the life of a Honeybee!

We thought it would be helpful to give you an idea of what the children's day looks like!

Please note, this does vary - we adapt daily depending on the children's interests and needs. Sometimes as a result of exploring time, we might take 1 activity and explore it with the whole class, or we might carry on with an input or discussion.

Over the week there are also slots for assemblies. The children also have PSHCE circle times and Maths and Writing teaching time and activities.

Honeybee's have PE on a Tuesday and a Friday morning.

Morning sessions:

Putting their things away.

Carpet time, register, setting the calendar.

'Exploring time' where children pick a station to play at (our station's activity change at least weekly but our areas are currently the following; the writing area, role play, small world, construction, ICT table, maths school, finger gym, painting area, creative table and the outside area). The children move between stations, choosing activities of interest. During these sessions, the children may take part in 1:1 reading with the teacher/TA, or 1:1 and group teaching, focusing on an area of learning.

Playtime outside

Read Write Inc phonics session - learning a new sound!

Exploring time. During these sessions, the children may take part in 1:1 reading with the teacher/TA, or 1:1 and group teaching, focusing on an area of learning.

Children will have their milk and a piece of fruit/vegetable if they wish.

Story time.

Afternoon sessions:

Lunch and playtime.

Carpet time and register.

Exploring time and/or Finger Gym activities (fine motor practise), handwriting, circle time.

Story time and getting ready for home.

Throughout the day we put a visual timetable up so the children are aware of what is now, next and then.
