31st March 2020

Hey everyone,

Well done to everyone who has had a go on their Home Learning last week.  Don't worry if you are finding it tricky to do, we do not expect it to be marked and sent it to school.  If someone at home is happy to mark it then that is great but we do not expect to see it.  If you want to save your best pieces to show me when we come back then I would love that but again I do not expect to see all your wonderful home learning.  However, we do look at Mathletics, TTRockstars and Spelling Frame so we use that to see what great work you are doing!

Daily learning for 31st March 2020

  1. Maths Task 1 - please complete up to  1 hour on Mathletics  (https://login.mathletics.com/)
We have set new tasks in addition and subtraction.
  2. Maths Task 2 - complete the sessions set on TT Rockstars (https://ttrockstars.com/)
  3. English Task 1 - spend 15 minutes on Spellingframe games then take a practice test (https://spellingframe.co.uk)
  4. English Task 2 -I'm so glad to hear that some of you enjoyed writing your diary entry from the eyes of a Rockhopper penguin.  Today we would like you to watch this funny video called Marshmallows https://www.literacyshed.com/marshmallows.html.  If you can stop it at 1 min in (if you point to the circle at the bottom which moves with the film it will tell you how long it has been playing for, stop it at 1.00)

Now you have seen the boy throwing marshmallows for the monster-tell me what else could the boy do with the monster?

1. He could play hide and seek

2. He could build a marshmallow tower by warming the marshmallows a little and sticking them together.

What do you think?

Home Learning

Hello Kingfishers,

Daily learning for 30th March 2020

  4. English Task 2 - I hope you enjoyed watching the Rockhopper penguins, I wonder what you would have done as a penguin?  I would have spent my day sitting on my egg and enjoying the sunshine and when I'd see the zookeeper coming with the fish I'd shout out to my penguin husband to go get some dinner for us (sound familiar?)  Then after my fishy dinner had gone down, I would enjoy a little swim before heading back to my nest and settling down for the night.

So by now you should have a good idea what a penguin does and what it looks like.  Good job because we would like you to write a short description about what a Rockhopper penguin looks like-you might even give it a name!

We would like it to include:

adjectives (describing words)

prepositions (words that tell you where something is- in, above, under, into)

CHALLENGE: Can you use 3 adjectives per part of the penguin?

Also his slick, oily and jet black head would be the first part to dive into the cool, deep and dark waters.
